Settle in Tetouan: useful benchmarks

Informations vérifiées le 19 octobre 2026 · Mr Taoufik

Arriving and getting around

  • Tétouan Saniat R’mel Airport appears in the ONDA network. Verify your flight with the airline, check-in procedures, and transfer to the accommodation; transport options depend on your arrival.
  • For arrival by train in Tangier, check ONCF then separately arrange the trip to Tetouan. Check the station, connections and luggage transport before booking.
  • The Tanger Med port publishes access directions from Tétouan. Clearly distinguish Tanger Med from Tanger Ville on your ferry ticket and prepare the journey to the actually booked port, with a margin adapted to formalities.

Housing: two advertised prices explained

  • Mubawab surveys of October 19, 2026: in Wilaya, listing 8425005 offers a 135 m² furnished apartment at 10,000 MAD per month for an annual lease, i.e., 74.07 MAD/m²/month. Near the bus station according to its description, listing 8436640 shows 65 m² at 2,200 MAD per month, or 33.85 MAD/m²/month. Ratios are calculated from the advertised amounts and surface areas, then rounded to the nearest cent.
  • These accommodations have different characteristics. Their asking prices do not constitute a representative range for Tetouan, nor a neighborhood average or median, nor rents already signed.
  • Have the availability, lease duration, and written amounts confirmed. Ask for details on utilities, water, electricity, internet, maintenance, and any agency fees before comparing your budget.
  • Try out journeys to school, work, and healthcare. During a visit, check the condition of the accommodation and actual access, in particular the stairs, the elevator, and the luggage drop-off location if you choose the medina.

Water, electricity, and sanitation

  • During the check on October 19, 2026, Amendis lists Tétouan among the agglomerations where it provides water, electricity and sanitation. The regional commissioning of the SRM-TTA does not mean that all subscriptions have changed operator: the launch press release distinguishes direct management in zone A from investments in zone B, which is still under delegated management. Check the manager listed on a recent utility bill for the property.
  • Ask the manager about the subscription conditions and the rates applicable to your contract. Have the charges included in the rent specified; no old scale is used here to promise a current invoice.

Health: understand the care pathway

  • The Ministry of Health identifies the Saniat Rmel Provincial Hospital Center in Tétouan in its briefing on September 25, 2025. Before a scheduled consultation, have the sought-after department, reception address, and appointment procedures confirmed by the establishment.
  • Before settling in, ask your coverage provider about covered care and the necessary procedures. For a consultation or scheduled exam, have any potential fees specified by the facility; this sheet does not provide personalized medical advice.

Schools: clearly distinguishing programs

  • The Spanish Ministry of Education lists the Colegio Español Jacinto Benavente in Tétouan, for early childhood and primary education, and the Instituto Español Nuestra Señora del Pilar, for ESO and Bachillerato. These are pathways within the Spanish system; verify admission conditions according to your child's level.
  • AL HAMAMA AL BAIDAE is a private Moroccan institution in Tetouan. Its website presents cycles from preschool to high school and teaching of French and Arabic languages, with an introduction to English. Ask for the program and the levels actually open for the planned school year.
  • For an approved French curriculum, consult the AEFE directory by city and level before choosing accommodation. The bilingualism announced by a private school is not sufficient to establish French approval.
  • Contact the institutions for places, the language of instruction, documents, and fees for the relevant year. Compare routes and the child's needs; no unpublished and undated tuition amount is added to this record.

To see: medina, museums and religious heritage

  • The medina of Tetouan, ancient Titawin, has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997. Its links with Andalusia, its alleys, and its houses provide a guiding thread for discovery; plan a route adapted to everyone's mobility.
  • The archaeological museum presents collections from sites in northern Morocco, including Tamuda and Lixus. The FNM publishes an adult ticket at 10 MAD. It indicates 10 AM–6 PM and "closed on Tuesday", while also mentioning "Monday to Sunday": have the opening day confirmed before the visit.
  • At the Bab El Oqla museum, the collections showcase the costumes, embroidery and musical heritage of Tétouan. The FNM displays an adult ticket price of 20 MAD and the same contradictory information regarding opening days; confirm the conditions with the museum before travelling.
  • The Ministry of Habous lists the Jamaâ Al Aâdam in Tétouan. This religious landmark does not constitute authorization for interior visits: inquire about access, particularly for non-Muslims, and respect attire, prayers, and photography rules.
  • The Church of Our Lady of Victories, called Notre Dame de la Victoire by ONMT, is located on Place Moulay El Mehdi. First discover its architecture from the public space; have the possibilities of indoor access confirmed and respect the celebrations.
  • The Jewish Community of Tangier presents the Rabbi Isthak Ben Walid Synagogue in the Tetouan mellah, and publishes a contact to organize the visit. Contact them before coming to confirm the welcome, schedule, any fees, and photography rules.

Crafts and flavors: discovering Tetouan

  • Zellige and painted wood are among the skills highlighted in Tetouan by the ONMT. In workshops and shops, ask who made the piece and where it was made: a concrete way to discover the work and support its artisans.
  • ONMT mentions the embroiderers and mendils of Guersa El Kébira, while the Bab El Oqla Museum documents Tétouan embroidery and Arab-Andalusian music. These skills give full prominence to the local residents who pass on local culture.
  • For flavors, ONMT highlights jben and the olive and fig products of the hinterland. Ask about the origin and storage conditions of the products, talk with producers, and take the time to discover the souks.
