Arriving and getting around
By air: Fès-Saïss Airport is part of the ONDA network. Consult your airline and airport information to prepare for your flight and arrival; flight schedules depend on the chosen date.
Fez is served by the ONCF railway network. The official downloads page lists in particular the Marrakech–Casablanca–Fez and Taza–Fez routes. Check your journey for the day of travel on ONCF Voyages, without relying on the timetables or prices of an older schedule.
To choose housing, try out commutes to school, work, and healthcare. In the medina, also ask your host or owner how to precisely reach the entrance and drop off luggage.
Housing: interpret advertised prices
Example recorded on Mubawab on October 18, 2026, listing 7887753 in Champ de course: unfurnished apartment of 118 m² offered for long-term rent at 5,000 MAD per month. The requested rent relative to the announced surface area is 42.37 MAD per m² per month, rounded to the cent.
Another example noted on the same day, Mubawab ad 8244502, also in Champ de course: 210 m² furnished apartment for long-term rent, listed at 12,000 MAD per month, i.e., 57.14 MAD per m² per month, rounded to the nearest cent.
These prices concern two specific housing units in the same sector. These are neither signed rents, nor a Fez average, nor a neighborhood median. Surface areas and furnished status differ: these examples do not allow the conclusion that one type of housing costs less.
Confirm availability, utility charges, agency fees, and lease conditions with the advertiser. Visit the property and compare accommodations of similar size and type before committing.
Water, electricity, and sanitation
During the check on October 18, 2026, Fatourati identifies the Société régionale multiservices Fès-Meknès for the payment of bills in the former RADEEF zone. For a property in Fez, therefore look up the current manager and the contract reference on a recent bill.
Ask for the subscription conditions and the current scale before establishing your water and electricity budget. An old RADEEF or ONEE tariff is not enough to calculate the current bill; also check any charges possibly included in the rent.
Health: find public healthcare facilities
The healthcare offering of the Fès-Meknès Territorial Health Group lists in Fès the Hassan II University Hospitals of Specialties, Mother-Child and Oncology, as well as the Omar Drissi and Ibn Al Hassan University Hospitals. Have the desired service and reception procedures confirmed before a scheduled consultation.
The same public directory also identifies the Al Ghassani, Ibn Al Khatib and Ibn Al Baitar hospitals in Fez. Consult the relevant institution to find out the appointment process and any necessary referral.
Before settling in, check with your coverage provider about the care covered and the steps to follow. Ask the facility about any fees for a scheduled consultation or exam.
Schools: identified establishments
Jean-de-La-Fontaine school group in Fes is listed by AEFE with approved levels from petite section to troisième. Its profile does not include high school: check the continuation of the school path before choosing family housing.
The Scientific Schools of Fes present on their website a kindergarten with a trilingual Arabic, French and English environment. This presentation describes the school's offering; it does not constitute approval of a foreign curriculum.
Groupe Scolaire La Tulipe presents itself as a private establishment in Fes, with levels ranging from kindergarten to secondary school. Request the detailed curriculum and further study conditions corresponding to your child's grade.
Contact each institution for available places and the admission file. Ask for a written fee schedule for the desired year, distinguishing between registration, tuition, transport, and catering.
To see: heritage and visit preparation
The medina of Fes has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1981. To discover its history at your own pace, plan a route around Bab Boujloud, the alleys of Fes el-Bali, and the craftsmanship still present in the workshops.
The Al Batha Museum of Islamic Arts notably presents manuscripts, textiles, ceramics, and metal pieces. Prices published by the FNM: Moroccans, 30 MAD; foreigners, 60 MAD; children, 15 MAD, without an age limit specified on this page. The FNM indicates 10 AM–6 PM and a closure on Tuesday, while also mentioning an opening "from Monday to Sunday": have the chosen day confirmed.
The Quaraouiyine Mosque is among the heritage landmarks presented by the ONMT. Do not infer that the interior is accessible to everyone: inquire about authorized areas and access conditions before planning a visit.
The Church of Saint Francis of Assisi in Fez is identified in the directory of the Archdiocese of Rabat. Contact the parish to find out about visiting possibilities; the times of a service do not constitute tourist opening hours.
The Ibn Danan Synagogue, in the mellah, is presented as a synagogue-museum by the tourism portal of Fes; the Ministry of Culture also lists the Danan Temple in the mellah of Fes. These sources attest to its heritage interest, but do not provide sufficiently precise current visiting conditions: have access, schedules and prices confirmed before your visit.
In places of worship, respect celebrations and reception instructions. Ask for permission before taking pictures and have visitor-accessible areas specified.
Fassi crafts, cuisine and culture
ONMT highlights woodworking in the Nejjarines district and pottery and ceramics in 'Fez blue'. Enter workshops that welcome visitors, ask who makes the piece, and discuss the materials and manufacturing steps before buying.
Chicken pastilla, the tanneries and the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music are among the discoveries presented by ONMT. For your outings, check the program of the announced edition and take the time to meet the artisans, cooks and cultural actors of the city.
