Settle in Oujda: housing, schools and practical life
Informations vérifiées le 19 octobre 2026 · Mr Taoufik
Arriving and getting around
Oujda-Angads Airport appears in the official ONDA network. Check flights with the airport and your airline; plan your journey to the accommodation separately.
Oujda is served by ONCF. The Downloads section notably features the Tangier–Fez–Oujda axis. Check the route and connections for your date in the official booking engine: an old schedule does not guarantee current service.
Before choosing a neighborhood, try the route to your school, workplace, and usual appointments. For a late arrival, organize the transfer before departure and ask the provider for the price.
The following examples were taken from MASAKEN listing pages on October 19, 2026. The amount per m² is the requested monthly rent divided by the announced surface area. This small survey does not constitute an average rent, a median, or a guarantee of availability.
Al Andalous: MASAKEN-12760 ad, 90 m² for 2,700 MAD per month, i.e., 30 MAD/m²/month. The page specifies the monthly unit; ad information should be verified during the visit.
Hay Salam, Addoha residence, according to the portal's ranking: listing MASAKEN-10621, 60 m² furnished apartment for 3,000 MAD per month, or 50 MAD/m²/month. Furniture and services explain why this housing cannot be directly compared to the previous one.
Ask in writing what the rent includes: charges, furniture, water, electricity, and any intermediation fees. Visit the accommodation, check who is signing the lease, and read the meters before setting your budget in the site's tool.
Water and electricity: SRM of the Oriental
The Oriental Regional Multiservice Company, SRM-ORI, indicates a start of operations on November 15, 2024. The launch in Oujda is also documented on this date by an article from La Vie Éco with MAP: distribution of water, electricity and liquid sanitation.
For a subscription or a change of account holder, start with the manager indicated on the recent utility bill and the procedures of the SRM-ORI. Ask for the applicable rate schedule and the fees related to your contract; no invoice amount is presumed in this sheet.
Health: plan your care before moving
CHU Mohammed VI of Oujda is listed by the Ministry of Health among university hospital centers. Use this official directory to find its website; confirm the desired service and appointment procedures with the establishment.
Before moving, prepare your prescriptions and medical file, then check your coverage with your insurance provider. Ask the facility about coverage conditions and a quote for scheduled care; the presence of a hospital does not guarantee reimbursement.
Schools: distinguishing programs
SandrinéO school group is listed by AEFE with approved levels from petite section to terminale. Published address: route d’Ahfir, lotissement Riyad Isly, Oujda. AEFE indicates +212 5 36 70 45 46.
The Mission laïque française presents SandrinéO as a partner institution offering French and Moroccan curricula. Upon registration, have the curriculum, level, languages of instruction, and the estimate for the relevant school year specified.
École Les Élites announces that it follows the Moroccan Ministry of National Education curriculum, from kindergarten to high school. Its published address is Boulevard Jelloul Mohammed, Oujda. This Moroccan curriculum should not be confused with AEFE homologation; contact the school for its admission conditions and fees.
To see: medina, heritage and places of worship
The medina and its gates provide an initial guiding thread for discovering Oujda. The Oriental Agency documents Bab Sidi Abdelouahab; start from this landmark to explore the surroundings of the old city at your own pace.
Bab Sidi Aïssa appears in the Archnet heritage notice dedicated to Bab El Gharbi. The photograph below dates from 2019; it shows the monument at that time and does not imply its current condition.
The Sebti Palace is presented by the ONMT as a place of cultural life. Ask for the program and access conditions before planning an interior visit: the sheet does not announce permanent hours or rates.
Lalla Aïcha Park is among the places presented by the ONMT to discover the city. Check access and conditions on-site before organizing a family outing.
The Great Mosque of Oujda, also cited as the Al Aâdam Mosque by the Ministry of Habous, is a landmark of the medina's religious heritage. Its presence in the guide does not mean the interior is open to everyone: ask about access, dress code, and photography rules, and respect prayer times.
Saint-Louis parish in Oujda is listed by the Diocese of Rabat at 11, d'Acila Street, with +212 5 36 68 24 81. Call the parish to ask if a visit is possible and at what time; the existence of a service does not constitute tourist visiting hours.
Culture, crafts, and flavors of the Oriental region
Gharnati is part of the musical heritage highlighted by ONMT for Oujda and its region. To listen to it, look for a schedule announced by the organizer or the cultural venue rather than relying on the calendar of an old brochure.
The ONMT Saidia heritage brochure discusses regional wool and alfa grass work, used notably in basketry. At an artisan's, ask for the origin, material, and manufacturing method of the object: exchange is also part of the discovery.
To taste: karane made from chickpea flour, presented by ONMT as an Oujda specialty, and regional kaâks. Ask the merchant for ingredients in case of allergy. No commercial address or price is recommended without verification.
