The independent guide to Morocco

Budget for living in Morocco

Your amounts, an explicit calculation, a summary to keep.

Indicative estimate, to be verified with the relevant organization. This is not legal, tax, or financial advice.

Your expenses in MAD

Leave an unknown expense blank; enter zero for an item with no cost. Use at most two decimal places.

Choose a city to display its housing references. The rent remains to be entered.

Your additional lines

Up to ten lines. Their headings remain on this device and in your printout; they are excluded from the shared link.

Budget breakdown

Share of each item in the entered annual total. Percentage rounding may cause a slight deviation from 100%.

Understand the calculation

Prepare a budget based on your quotes, invoices and known expenses. Choose a city to find housing benchmarks, then fill in each item in Moroccan dirhams. No expense amount is added automatically: an empty box means you do not yet know the sum. Write zero when an item costs you nothing. The categories cover current expenses; you can add lines for your household's needs.

For each line, choose a monthly or annual period. Monthly expenses are multiplied by twelve, then added to the annual expenses. The monthly result is an average of the annual total divided by twelve, rounded to the cent at the end. An annual bill remains payable upon its due date. The breakdown compares annual equivalents; displayed percentages may show a small sum discrepancy after rounding.

Rents proposed as examples remain dated listing prices, never a promise of availability nor an average valid for every accommodation. A price per square meter index requires your surface area and an explicit action to be used. The conversion into euros is indicative, with source and date visible when a rate is available. Check your institution's fees and rate. Print the details, share only authorized parameters or enable saving on your device.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an empty field and zero?

An empty field is not included and makes the budget partial. Zero is an entered expense with no cost. An invalid amount blocks totals until corrected.

How annual expenses are handled

They are added to the annual total without multiplication. The monthly total is then the annual equivalent divided by twelve, rounded to the cent at the end.

Is the proposed rent the average rent for the city?

No. This is an example of an ad or a precisely identified index, with source and date. For an index per square meter, you must enter an area. Check availability, charges and conditions with the advertiser.

Is the conversion into euros guaranteed?

No. It uses the central EUR/MAD reference dated from the site if available and sufficiently recent. Commissions and commercial rates are not included; no replacement value is invented.

What does the shared link contain?

Only the city, amounts, periods and amounts of added lines. Custom headings are excluded. Settings are after the # sign; anyone with the link can read them. Saving to the device is optional.

Sources and update

Amounts: your quotes, invoices, and assumptions. No route or current expense rates are provided by default. Calculation method verified on October 19, 2026.

Rent benchmarks come exclusively from the city guides, with their original survey dates. These are historical listing prices, to be confirmed.

The EUR/MAD reference, its source and its UTC time are displayed in the summary. Only an available and sufficiently recent reference is used.
